WHO ARE YOU?

Hi! I'm Amy Greil.  I have an MLIS from Simmons University and have worked with children, teens and adults in a public library setting for over 25 years!

Over that time I have honed my storytime skills, from silly songs to ridiculous voices and engaging games.  I want to share my enthusiasm and experience with the families at your library!

WHY SUNSHINE STORYTIME?

I believe in the power of storytime.  When stories, songs and silliness come together with excited kiddos it's a magical thing.  But as the parent of 2 neurodivergent sons I know that storytime isn't always inclusive.  That's why I started Sunshine Storytime - to bring the joy of storytime to kids who need a little something extra!

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Once we choose a date and time for the program, we will work together to create the most sensory friendly version of your space. Ideally, this means a quiet environment and low lights to set the scene.  I provide everything for the program from the stories to the fidget toys with the exception of tables and chairs for the sensory playtime.  Whatever you have in your space will be fine,

When the participants arrive they will be offered a visual timeline to help them see how the program will go.  Then we will get started, with a gentle hello song, felt board games  and interactive stories.  We will play with scarves, shaker eggs and other toys to engage our senses.  After we sing one more song the children are free to move to the sensory stations set up in the room.  These include toys and manipulatives with different textures, process art activities and fine and gross motor practice.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Sunshine Storytime is geared to neurodivergent kids from age 2 to 7. Siblings are always welcome to join in the fun!
